Michael Phelps may have left the pool behind but he may have just landed in some hot water. On August 13 a Louis Vuitton ad featuring the Olympian was leaked online and has been making is rounds, which could possibly violate the International Olympic Committee’s Rule 40. This rule stipulates that an athlete cannot promote an non-Olympic sponsors from July 18 though August 15, the ad was set to go public on August 16. If this rule is violated punishments range from fines to being stripped of medals, of which he has 22. Considering the ad was scheduled to debut August 16 and both Phelps and Louis Vuitton deny leaking the photos it is highly doubtful that he will face any problems. They wouldn’t punish an Olympic legend, would they?
